How to connect CPU to a laptop and use the laptop as a monitor?

This is not directly possible because of fact that laptops has VGA or HDMI output but not input.

One purpose many people wanted to do this is to use their laptops as a camera monitors that way they can carry around laptop instead of monitor so they can shoot and edit on one go . But this question states you need to connect PC cabinet to it.

The only way to do this is using 2 hardware components

  1. Video card that can stream RCA or Adapter that converts VGA/HDMI to RCA
  2. A USB TV stick that shows RCA content from a set top box

Connect adapter for rca to cpu.. Technically now your pc is a Set-top-box. Then connect rca output to the laptop USB using USB TV stick.

Please note typical hardware to do this allows content stream of 720p and higher resolution capabilities are expensive..
